2019 Guest Curator
David Guerra
Aynel David Guerra is a curator, artist and the owner/founder of A R E A, a multi-format and interdisciplinary gallery in Boston that organizes exhibitions and experiences.
Since November of 2016, A R E A features the work of local and international artists and designers. His gallery welcomes creatives of diverse social and cultural backgrounds. His passion for innovation in the arts has led him to collaborate on a variety of projects and exhibitions as a curator in Boston.
Curatorial Projects
David has organized exhibitions at Abigail Ogilvy Gallery, the Boston Center for the Arts, Villa Victoria Center for the Arts (VVCA), MIT Hacking Arts and The Yard. At A R E A, David has curated a total of 21 group and solo show exhibitions.
Invited by Montserrat College of Art, he curated a site specific project at Gallery 301 during the month September, 2019. The project featured the work of Cuban artist Adrian Fernandez Milanes.
David was the guest curator of the 2019 edition of the Illuminus Festival, which showcased the work of 17 artists working on new media technologies and focusing on social, political and environmental issues.

“Legends Breathe: Divine Night” is part of a larger body of work exploring the power of creativity and the imagination in overcoming trauma. The whole project is based on interviews with different female-identified and non-binary artists about childhood fantasies.
