MARCO GOMEZ & YULAN GRANT

Members of the a pioneering, self-described “queer” collective #KUNQ, Yulan Grant (SHYBOI) and Marco Gomez (FALSE WITNESS DJ) will perform at the House of Blues. Grant and Gomez, who recently performed at MoMA PS1, blur the lines between the contemporary artworld and the underground club scene. They will perform on a stage in the round, with four screens around them. The light performer NITEMIND will respond to their music with lasers and lights.  Juxtaposing serene and macabre imagery, this collage of image and sound seeks to contemplate the most splendid thing before death.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Yulan Grant is a New York based multi-disciplinary artist from Kingston, Jamaica and a member of the KUNQ artist collective. Positioned between Caribbean and American culture, she interrogates ideas of identity, notions of power, perceived histories and the entanglements that happens within and among these topics in her work. 

Marco Gomez is a sound artist, music producer, DJ, and a member of the KUNQ artist collective. In his work, Gomez questions the intersections of nightlife, politics, and social justice, often juxtaposing these concerns within the overarching themes such as memory recall and heightened states of self-awareness.
