Camilo Alvarez is the owner (and director, curator and preparator) at Samsøn (founded as Samson Projects in 2004) in Boston, Massachusetts. Camilo was born in 1976 in New York City to Dominican parents and lived in Santo Domingo for 7 years. He received a BA from Skidmore College and is currently studying to receive a Masters in Museum Studies from Harvard University. He has worked at, among other places, Exit Art, Socrates Sculpture Park, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, MIT's List Visual Art Center and the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture. Samsøn's programs and exhibitions have been reviewed by, among others, ArtForum, the Boston Globe and Flash Art.
The multifaceted practice of Jutta Friedrichs engages with people, public space, and the built environment. As a curator she works with architects, designers, sculptors and other artists in a range of media to encourage dialog between new artworks and the broader context of the existing physical environment. In her writings and multichannel audio-visual installations she explores cultural and phenomenological interrelations between body and the built environment, as in her recent investigation The Inconspicuous Life of Walls and her video piece Dream, Echoes, Debris. As an arts producer she has brought about a series of multi-sensory dining events designed to investigate the interdependencies of the food supply chain.
Friedrichs earned her BA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, with additional studies at UDK in Berlin, before obtaining her Master’s Degree in Art, Design and the Public Domain with Krzysztof Wodiczko at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
She is currently a mentor at the Harvard Innovation Lab where she advises students in the Cultural Entrepreneurship track and has served as an art and design critic at Harvard and MIT.
From 2005 to 2010, she lived in Shanghai, China, where she founded Mü Furniture as an outlet for her award-winning designs.
She is the cofounder of Changing Environments, a company developing smart urban furniture, whose first product, Soofa, has been well received in publications such as The Washington Post, Mashable and Fastcompany.
Leonie Bradbury is a curator of contemporary art and currently works as the Director and Curator of the Galleries at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA. She is the co-founder of "Alter Projects" an independent curatorial collaborative that designs custom arts programming. Bradbury is a Ph.D. Candidate in Philosophy and Art Theory at the Institute for Doctoral Studies in Visual Art. Her curatorial programming has a strong socially engaged focus and includes exhibition projects, both solo and group, that feature a range of emerging and established artists of national and international note. Two of her exhibitions have received awards from the Association of International Art Critics (AICA) A New Order: Appropriation Art in the Digital Age (2nd Place, 2006) and Electric Wasteland: Urban Art from L.A.(1st Place, 2008). She has produced numerous essays, catalogues, and texts.
Maggie Cavallo is a curator and educator based in Boston, MA dedicated to providing dynamic learning experiences with, through and for the arts. Recent projects include Beyond the Lesson Plan: A Dialogue on Teaching and Learning in the Arts and Standard Practice an exhibition of recent work by Joanna Tam both at Montserrat College of Art, re: no subject featuring the photographs of Vela Oma, Genesis Baez, Todd Danforth and DEAD ART STAR at UMASS Amherst and The Highest Closet, featuring work by Sarah Hill, Hayley Morgenstern, Creighton Paecht Baxter and Jessica Borusky at the 301 Gallery. Cavallo is also the co-founder of Alter Projects, a social-hybrid company that provides arts programming and consultation to corporate clients, non-profit organizations and artists themselves. Clients include the AIDS Action Committee, the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston and Illuminus. Cavallo was the Curator of Education at Montserrat College of Art from 2010-2015 and is currently acting as a researcher and Teaching Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education where she is co-developing a course on Public Art and Learning. She received a BA in Media, Society and the Arts from SUNY Purchase and an Ed.M in Arts in Education from Harvard University.
A visual artist, technologist, and DJ, De Lima’s practice spans a variety of media and cultural contexts. In his practice, collaboration serves as mode of activating so-called "thirdspaces," where cross-disciplinary relationships can flourish. De Lima hosts Spectacle Boston, a nomadic performance space for experimental music and visual arts, and co-curates Picó Picante, a monthly transnational music event. At the ICA, De Lima uses the gallery as a space for sculptural installations that serve as platforms for a collaborative series of visual art exhibitions, experimental music, and performative events.
